So Tak and I just finished playing on www.Dubplate.FM. I'll be honest and reveal that I was super nervous and energy-filled right before we went on the air. And of course I messed up a bunch of times, but nothing too drastic. No train-wrecking or whatever. I am chucking to myself because I have so much to learn, ya know?

Thanks for listening ya'll.

Shut up and Dance.

Still in my PJs on Saturday morning: that's what's up! Last night I had a fun time hanging out with 7 girlfriends that I've known for 10 yrs+. I have a Mimosa headache this morning but it was totally worth it!! So now I can reveal what the big news is: We have a brand new show on a brand new station, the www.Dubstep.FM fam, and we couldn't be happier!! We are preparing the first show now and hope to have a real doozy for you. Stay tuned for more info in the next week.

Also, check out December 18's party to be that evening: Out of Asia in Los Angeles, CA. This music event will take place at a storage show room for imported Asian furniture with Pure Filth Sound! I'll be playing first slot and I'm super stoked. Come early to support. 8-3 AM Dec 18. Here is the flyer:

CASPA at The House of Blues, Los Angeles

Wow. Talk about a big show for the underground bass lovers in Los Angeles, especially for dubstep. Drew from the Smog crew has spearheaded a dubstep movement that seems to keep growing and growing in Los Angeles. I started going to the SMOG parties a year and a half ago and I've gradually become acquainted with Drew, DJ's Pawn, Steady, Emu and lovely Miss Blaze, and they are a stand-up group of people that have a strong love affair with the music. What a great night for the SMOG crew!

Here are some pics I took...I also got to meet the illustious Eek-a-Mouse on the balcony at the House of Blues. This guy is O.G. from back to 1979 (his first release)! I'm obviously stoked.

Here is another picture I took of Caspa, after we somehow ended up backstage while meneuvering our way from the 3rd floor rooftop to the main floor.

Danger Dub Show

Fear not the rabbit, for he is a symbol of fertility, parties and "drunkenness" in Aztec Mythology!

Danger Dub Show 4 by you.

I love the heavy dubs

I've been trying to pry myself from this odd vortex I climbed into a few weeks ago and get back into listening and looking for music that inspires me. The old and the new, the happy songs and the moody songs. The ones that make you dance with your dog and the ones that make you think of your love. And the ones that make you act like a fool on the dance floor. DJ's and producers: hit me up with your favorite places to obtain music online, as well as your own music. I am eager to learn from your knowledge and gain new insights into the world of sound.

Tune In Live: Danger Dub Show

We are proud to announce the inception of our new radio show on dubplate.fm, the Danger Dub Show with your hosts and DJ's Dub-A-Tak and Violet Gray featuring our favorite dubstep tunes, but also some downtempo, jungle, breakbeat, dub and raggae. Every Tuesday 7:30-9:00 pm PT and Sunday 4:00-7:00 pm PT.

We had our first show on Tuesday night in which Dub-A-Tak and I took turns mixing on the decks. The show is about 95% music and 5% talking, which Dub-A-Tak handles very well. I say a couple of things every now and then but my brain goes blank when I'm about to speak.

I have to be honest and say that there was a point where I got very nervous during my first set but then I realized that I have nothing to trip over and to just focus on the songs and blending them well. I did screw up one mix pretty bad, but it happens to every DJ so f*ck it. Once I got over my fear and I pulled off a couple of decent mixes, I started to feel better. The chat had some really great feedback and they were even asking when we were gonna play again so that was pretty awesome. My favorite part of the show was when Dub-A-Tak dedicated a song to me. That was pretty damn sweet.

Live Internet Radio!! It's a fun time. As the shows progress, we are going to try to keep them interesting. Please tune into Dubplate.FM and check out some bumpin' tunage.

Too Hot To Sleep

It's a hot night in L.A. We went on a bike ride tonight through El Segundo at around 11 p.m. We went on a mission to obtain some baking powder for the peanut butter cookies we are going to make later. There is something peaceful and invigorating about riding your bike down a hill so fast that you start to feel the wheels jiggle as you're speeding down the hill. But I'm so out of shape that I had to get off the bike on a particularly hilly hill. It was not my proudest moment, but Tak's playful taunts only served to make me step up to the challenge and it makes me want to do better for the next time.

My stomach is killing me

I have the worst cramps at the moment. It sucks ass, man! This is one of the major drawbacks of being a female. Advil is my friend at the moment. That, and this comfortable couch I'm sitting on. Now if I could only find the remote, I would be able to catch up on Sex and the City or something like that, you know?

Going on a trip to Colorado in two weeks. I'm trying to enjoy the rest of the summer as much as I can, but it's so hot and muggy out in the city on the really hot days so I would rather stay in El Segundo where I'm a mile from the beach. Can you blame me? We get the cool coastal breezes over our hilly little city and it's pretty sweet.

Well, not feeling so great...ugh. Time to rest.

My dog is a funny little thing. She has a funny personality. Granted, she weighs 3 pounds so she's all fur and love. It's pretty cute.

Watching Flight of the Conchords, Season 2. It's pretty hilarious. Brett is pretty cute, but Gemaine looks dorky and not in a cute way.

It's late...sleepy time.

Sad

I am very sad that my brother's best friend had the terrible misfortune of losing his father today. I've known this family practically my whole life so this is shocking and terribly sad for all of us, my family included.

My little brother is a sweet friend and rushed over there once his friend called him. He was there all day today helping them through their grief and I can only imagine the emotional pain they are going through. Their father had suffered much the past two years after having a stroke and was partially paralyzed and he was in much emotional pain. May he rest in peace.
